On Sunday morning, we ‘woke up’ after potentially our worst ever night in our near-10 months as parents. It was the kind of sleep deprivation that makes your body physically hurt and could have resulted in a bloody awful day. But, as I have learnt the hard way over these 10 months, no matter how sleep deprived you are, it is always better to leave the house.
We first went to Chippenham Park last year for a wedding but hadn't clocked that the 'garden' we'd agreed to meet my parents at was the same place until the day before. The gardens at Chippenham Park are only open on select days throughout the year and this was the one day in 2022 to go and see their autumn colours. Gary's dad was visiting us so we were on the lookout for local activities and I am an absolute sucker for the colours of Autumn. So, despite our bleary eyes and lead-laden bodies, we drove over for lunch and tea & cake in The Potting Shed tearooms and went and immersed ourselves in the pretty autumnal scenes. As tempting as it was to lie in a heap all day, I'm very glad we went because those beautiful autumn colours, fresh air and British quaintness of the day were a tonic
