French Riviera: Visiting Sunny Nice

French Riviera: Nice

Like our trip to Copenhagen last year, our trip to Nice was booked less than a month in advance on a bit of a whim. Despite my love and excitement for Autumn, a few days of sun was exactly what I needed just before those leaves truly turned at home.

If you’re avoiding the museums and art galleries (which I do on most trips, philistine that I am), the sights to see include the Promenade des Anglaise, Castle Hill Park, the Old Town, the Russian Cathedral, Fountain of the Sun and the Promenade du Paillon. We saw most of these sights in one day, just by wandering around the city in an aimless fashion. The weather was a perfect 21c and we came across everything almost by accident as we soaked in the sun and ate copious amounts of ice cream (there were so many incredible ice cream parlours).

I fell hard for Nice, completely unexpectedly. Admittedly I had no expectations which often helps, but I also found that Nice is the perfect city to go to if you just fancy a bit of sun and doing not much in particular. I liked it so much more than Paris (I’ve had some great times in Paris but I’m still not entirely sure I get what the fuss is about… soz) and I could have quite happily spent a week there just moseying about. The bright blues of the Mediterranean, the intricate French streets, the spectacular sunsets; it was all-round lovely.

Photo Diary: Devon & The Eden Project

Dartmouth, Devon & The Eden Project

At the end of September, Gary and I headed to Dartmouth, Devon for our annual week of eating, sleeping, pub-ing. This year we also had a lil day trip to the Eden Project which was so interesting. A few photos from the week:

Struck down by a ruthless cold 😑 so headed out for a chocolate milkshake and some sea air in the hope it would cure. It didn’t but it was a nice break from feeling like my sinuses are trying to kill me 🤒

We all know I’m a sucker for a pretty sky even if it is in Tesco carpark, which was our first port of call after the 5 and a half hour drive home because no body wants to be greeted by the post-holiday empty fridge...

Could discuss how lovely Nice is, could discuss how crackin’ this hot chocolate was, could even discuss being held on the tarmac whilst a drunk moron was removed from the plane (thanks for the two hour delay mate). But really, today’s caption needs to focus on two things. 1) My awesome sister loudly telling the other moron on the plane where him and his outrageous misogynist comments needed to go. That’s my girl 💪🏻 2) The pigeon photobombing this photo. Top work pal.

Dad and I spent a good while in the John Lewis Christmas section on Saturday. I’d say we were trying to cheer ourselves up after a crap week but really, we have always been little Christmas elves obsessed with the sparkly decorations 🎅🏼
